Let’s face it: bad drivers are everywhere. We’ve all witnessed our fair share of driving fails, from ill-fated merges to terror-inducing ride alongs with grandma to the grocery store. Back in the day, suspect drivers could get away with nothing more than a few honks (and traumatized grandchildren). Now? These drivers live in infamy thanks to the advent of smartphones and dash cams. Type in “driving fail” in YouTube and you’ll be flooded with enough material to make you want to steer clear of the road forever.

Driving fails are especially haunting when they involve RVs. You know the phrase, “the bigger they are, the harder they fall?” These RVs, campers and motorhomes prove just that. The following videos are a collection of fails so epic they belong in a driver’s ed curriculum. They range from the hilarious to the horrifying, and serve as a reminder to always stay alert on the road.

The Windy Winnebago

Note to self: always watch for high wind advisories. Unfortunately, this driver didn’t get the memo. The strong gusts of wind we’re too much for this camper, which eventually flipped in the middle of a construction zone on the freeway. The trailing car captured video of the crash in all its glory. Thankfully, the crash occurred at a slow speed and the driver was able to avoid serious injury. Maybe next time, this unhappy camper will remember to pull over in bad weather.

A Cul-De-Sac Disaster

What do you get when you mix a bad driver, a caravan, and a cul-de-sac? I’ll let the results speak for themselves. In this video, a simple three-point turn devolves into a five and-a-half minute disaster. It’s like if Austin Powers tried to take his new caravan out for a spin. Several onlookers tried to intervene and help this novice driver, but it was to no avail. After what seems like an eternity, the driver is able to successfully back out of the cul-de-sac. You have to admire his perseverance, even if he could have simply detached the caravan and moved it by hand.

RV Mud Bath

No guts, no glory. At least, I’m pretty sure that’s what this ill-fated driver was thinking when he gunned his motorhome into a muddy river. This had all the makings of a great driving stunt: a captivated audience, a mega-sized RV, and a dangerous maneuver. The video ends predictably with the RV taking a mud bath and getting stuck in knee deep water. Clearly, this driver wasn’t an Evel Knievel protegé.

Crazy Travel Trailer Car Crash

Caution: this vehicle makes wide turns. In this video, a dash cam picks up a driver and his trailer spinning wildly out of control. The driver’s merge goes frighteningly wrong, as the trailer nearly crashes into another car before collapsing in the middle of the road. Luckily, everyone seemed to emerge from this crash unscathed. The trailer didn’t get so lucky. Does insurance cover stupidity?

RV Huge Air Crash

If this were the redneck olympics, this driver would earn the gold medal. The video starts with an ominous clip of an oncoming ambulance – and it only gets worse from there. We soon learn that this driver thinks he’s Walter White fleeing from cops, as he plows through an open field en route to a giant jump. The video ends with a wrecked RV and a trip to the hospital, but not before the shirtless driver valiantly emerges to crawl out of the crash site. I don’t know what’s more telling, the confederate flag accessory or the “Pug Life” graffiti on the side.

“I Think I Can Clear It”

Driving is hard. It’s especially difficult when you forget that you’re towing a travel trailer behind you. This driver learned that the hard way when he crashed into an awning at a local bank. At first glance, it looks like this driver is completely crushed by the falling awning. Fortunately, the driver and his son were able to exit the vehicle uninjured. But it looks like they might need a couple more trips to the ATM to pay for these damages.

Directions Are Hard

The Flintstones music says it all. This poor soul somehow managed to attach their 5th wheel camper backwards. In this video, a real-life Clark Griswold obliviously pulls out of a gas station with their 5th wheel camper attached backwards. That’s right: this poor soul somehow managed to completely ignore the bumper hitch in favor of this, uhh, innovative method? Watch to see driving fails at their finest.
